First figure out whose dog it really is going to be (yours or hers) and understand the responsibilities it takes to raise and train a puppy.
Go to a puppy mill. They make the best puppies.
I agree with Tredici, if your only dating you have to figure out whose dog it really is. If your looking for good dogs (cat's and other pets as well) go to the shelter in Nevada. They are fixed and have all of their shots. My fiance got a kitten from there last year for $20. I think the dogs are usually around $50. Beats buying new.
I hope you aren't counting on getting your security deposit back. :)
Got a golden retriever last May. Cannot put into words how awesome she is. Paisley is to me like Snot is to Uncle Eddie in Christmas Vacation...She is my pride and joy.
not to be a debbie downer but you should wait till youre out of college. You want a puppy now but remember he is yours for the next 10 or more years. Where are you going to be in 10 years? You have no clue. Trust me living in apartments w/ dogs is no treat. Neither is finding apartments to rent w/ a dog. Neither is walking down flights of stairs 10 times a day w/ a dog in an apartment. neither is being young and wanting to go places and do things but you cant because you have a puppy. Neither is your pos dog that barks all night in an apartment. Who gets it when you break up? Thats right she does. Youll never see it again. She left you because she has a puppy that loves her more than you ever can. The end is near sir. Youre young, wait and get a puppy when all else has failed you in your life and relationship.
Sidenote, whats w/ girls and dogs these days. Every freaking girl that I date has a damn dog. No I dont want you to come over if you have to bring your ugly mut over too. So nobody loves you so you get a dog that is practically forced to love you so you feel better about yourself. I get it you hate your dad. move on.
You don't have time for a dog. They are an actual responsibility. You have to walk them and feed them and let them out to do their business. Get a cat, they are more self sufficient.
Better yet, wait until your out of school to get a pet

I've been wanting/thinking about getting a vizsla forever but I realize that I just dont have the time commitment right now. Plenty of kids live in the neighborhood that would be able to let her out...problem is, those kids are also my students. We'll see what this spring brings as I might not be coaching track this season which should give me some spare time.
Been there, done that. My wife and I got a yorkie right out of college. Definitely wouldn't do it unless you are ready to settle down. I wouldn't recommend it if you like being able to freely do what you want. Finding friends to watch her or paying for daycare was and still is tough.
Not to mention my wife promised to do all the work and guess who ends up getting stuck with the work most of the time...........me!
Oh, she also barks non stop at everything.
