IIRC from Alien 3,the aliens look different depending on which species they gestated inside. The one from that movie hatched from a dog, so it was more of a quadriped than a biped. If these came from eggs hatched by a queen who came from a non-human host, they WOULD be different.

But then you ask "Well, how did the face-huggers from the first movie get compatibility with humans?" IF "Prometheus" is a prequel to "Alien", then this movie should give us that answer....

Or not. Actually, I kind of like it when a director "freestyles" instead of slavishly sticking to all the previous tech and plot. Just as long as the movie is good as a standalone product, the fanboys will find a way to rationalize the conflicts.
