Re: Ice fishing?
Yep, big creek's got like 14" on it. They're Just hammering the walleyes. Don't be afraid to drive your truck out there. And don't let the appearance of open water fool you, it's just a mirage.
Seriously, no one (other than some crazy person on 2" of ice on a farm pond) has been out.
It's going to be a short season this year

Re: Ice fishing?
I'll start with the no ice is safe ice but Little Wall has about 5" of clear hard ice from a report I heard yesterday. North of Hwy 20 should be good.
Some people are pounding the yellows up at clear lake while others are having some trouble. Keep moving until you find them! Also don't venture east of the island as the ice is variable in thickness.
I wanted zero degrees for Christmas but will have to settle for swatting the honkers in the Ames area.

Re: Ice fishing?
We walked in Little Wall yesterday and there seemed to be 3 to 4" of ice. We are heading to Briggs Woods tomorrow to check it out.
