** Official NYE in DM thread **

Unfortunately we can't make it this year, but this is a great show they do every year for NYE at People's. If you like dueling piano's, you'll love this show as it comes with a twist. They have a band backing them up. I can tell you from firsthand experience, you'll have a great time.

For those of you that will be out and about in Des Moines, what else is going on NYE that you think is worth checking out?

Ohhhh...Kayyyyy......no one can say that I'm not able to tap into the pulse of the "off-topic" board. ;)

Probably a thead better served up after we digest the bowl game today.

We just sit home, relax and watch the various New Years shows since neither of us really drink and don't think its worth it to pay extra to get in a bar on NYE.

Gaslamp would be my first choice
Bright*Giant and Randy Burke & The Prisoners for $15 - sick bar, strong drinks, pinball

Vaudeville Mews would come in a close second
Bob Nastanovich and Marc Hogan spinning records? Yes. - Try to beat a $2 cover on NYE on Court Ave.

I'm staying in Ames. DG's has some great live music tomorrow night - Cleo's, Mumfords, Sun Company, Poetoaster. Hopping around to the Pocket/London/Whiskey/OMBC is always dope for a quick scenery change - no cover (except DG's which is $10)

Travel safe, bad weather. (New year's eve Weather Thread)

It isn't going to be an end of the world storm. Not a lot of ice, not a lot of snow, but a little bit, plus winds blowing maybe up to 55 or 60 mph at times, plus a lot of drunk drivers has the potential to not be very pretty.

Worst of it will be north, but a lot of this will be moving through right at midnight/1am, as people are leaving or right before they head home.

With the wind, even just a little bit of snow or ice will make it tough, even in Des Moines/Ames with the worst staying north.
