Yes, I'm sure it was your "son" that downloaded something he shouldn't have.

"How did 'that' get on there sweetie? Oh Junior, you cut that out."

Have him teach you how to do it then trade him for a new one.

Is it an app, or something in the browser? If it is either, click the little gear go to the more options, then Applications. YOu can go into the Amazon browser, clear the cache and data and force stop to eliminate that. And you can delete an app. Don;t know about videos or stuff like that.

    Re: kindle fire

Not sure if the kindle fire is any different, but on my android phone there is a "My Files" application. You go into the app drawer and launch it and it turns into essentially a browser of the files on your phone. There is a download folder in there along with some folders with app data. Just find what you are looking for, then click and hold on it and a pop up menu will appear with the option to delete.

If it is an app you want to dump, there is an option to manage applications in the settings menus. In there you can find the application in question and delete it.

Also, you've got to spill the beans on what exactly got on there that has to be removed? This is gold!

Is it the mandatory right click you buy Amazon feature for kids? Or, are you embarrassed to say it is porno?

I've learned not to ask, it always ends with me getting ****** off. He's thirteen and we've been letting him take it to school. Is it true that these things don't require anti-virus software?

    Re: kindle fire

I've never run any anti-virus stuff on my Android devices, though I have seen products starting to pop up more recently. At this point, I don't think there is much of a threat out there, and the inconvenience of having to wipe your device if you do get something is nothing compared to losing your PC.

I'd be curious to know if any other Fanatics have had any issues with viruses on a mobile OS, or have had any good experiences with mobile anti-virus software.

Hold your finger on the questionable item and then select "remove from device."

PS -- The pdf of the owner's manual is right on the fire itself.

Be careful. I'm pretty sure with the Fire that when you link it up to the Amazon network, you don't have to put in a password or anything to buy. You just click and purchase. You could end up with some big bills on your hands if not careful.
