What was/is your major? and Was it worth it?
The useless majors thread got me thinking about this.
Computer Systems & Network Technology, I'm not in that field but it did land me a job. I am thinking about going back for something different, not sure for what though.

2x majored in econ and poli sci. One was definitely worth it; take a wild guess as to which one...

Both majors could probably get me to DC, but only one actually makes me semi-useful.

Re: What was/is your major? and Was it worth it?
Kinesiology and Health.
I first landed a job in my field that was a good job, but pay was enough to live and have a little left over but not much. After having that job for 2 years, I got another job in the same field that was much better. The pay is much better. For me, it was worth it.
However, I know quite a few people in my same major that are working in some other field or aren't making much money. I definitely got lucky, due to the fact that I knew some important people in the business and interned with them (Thanks Acceleration Iowa).
If I had to do it all over again, I would probably do something else. (Accounting or Finance because the ceiling is much higher)

Ag. Business and Crop Production and Physiology. I love my majors and they are VERY USEFUL. I think the guy that wrote that was a dumb**** IMO. If you have any ambition the ag field is wide open. https://legacy.iastate.edu/owa/redir...mary200910.pdf -

English. waste of time and money. if you are going to school make sure you have a long term goal, a degree that is worth something, or rich parents who are paying your way.

Re: What was/is your major? and Was it worth it?
I majored in screwing around, drinking and meeting coeds. Dropped out after one semester with a 0.0. Not worth it of course, but I learned a valuable lesson about responsibility that helped push me to do better and work harder, and got me to where I am today (in a roundabout way I suppose).

Construction Engineering.
Absolutely worth it. Great pay and benefits. Though, it's not for everyone. Long hours - high stress - lots of travel. I love my job though so it's all worth it.
