I want to go to lucallans in ames but I dont want it to disappoint is it a nice place. have any of you guys been to any of these restaurants?

IMO, I've not had great experiences at Lucullan's. The service has just always been lacking, and the food didn't knock me on my butt. If you were to stay in Ames, I'd call Aunt Maude's for reservations.
Ranallo's (sp?) in Ankeny is also very nice.
Bravo! is a good place to eat. The food was excellent, considering it's a chain restaurant. IIRC it wasn't cheap,but it's been a few years.
If I lived in Ames in your shoes, I'd probably go with the Aunt Maude's

Lucallans is good, not great. I prefer a place like Dublin Bay though. Better prices, good food, and still a nice place to eat
My wife and I always enjoy Bravo.
