Cheap Spring Break Ideas
Looking for something to do cheap over spring break. Can't afford to go south for a entire week or do some crazy cruise. Looking for maybe a day trip or a weekend getaway. Basically just looking to get out of Ames. I was thinking maybe there is something to do in Chicago, Kansas City, or St. Louis? Anyone have any ideas of something to do that fairly close and won't kill my bank account.
I have never scene a NHL game and I heard tickets are cheapest in St. Louis.
*Kind of hoping to watch my cyclones go dancing but I don't know what city they will be playing in.

May I suggest taking a tour south of 80. Visit good ole Oskaloosa for a real slice of life. If you want to heat things up, drop down to chills and thrills in Ottumwa.

I'd recommend road tripping to Tiajuana. Everything's cheap. Even donkey shows. No hockey south of the border - only real sports like bull & **** fighting.

Story City has an historic carousel. You could ride one of the horsies.

It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element. -

Re: Cheap Spring Break Ideas
I went with some friends one year to Chicago for a couple days, including St Patrick's Day. We were underage at the time, but it was a lot of fun and if you're 21+ even better.
Spent a day checking out Soldier Field & Wrigley Field, and walked around the neighborhood near Wrigley for a while. Went to Navy Pier, did the Sears Tower thing. One person in our group lived in the outer burbs so we crashed at their place, but had other friends who scored a decent hotel in the burbs near a train station for like $80/night which they split 3 ways.
Watched them dye the river green -- was cool but took forever for anything to actually "happen". Saw the parade and wandered around downtown. Lots of cool, cheap/free stuff for people to do in a big city for a few days.

Never go to St. Louis, it's a trashy town. However I'm biased.
KC is cool, but it's a different kind of town since no sports teams are playing now.

Don't go anywhere. NCAA tournament play begins that week, no need to travel somewhere.
