Summer/Fall Job
So here is the situation:
I graduate this May with a criminal Justice Degree. I will also commission as a 2LT in the Army in the medical service field. I have 7 years active duty waiting for me. (hopefully more) I thought I would be leaving Ames for officer basic course in June or July but it turns out the Army is behind and I am not leaving till Jan 23.
Anyone have any ideas for a summer job that will carry me though the fall? I know not being a college student anymore and leaving in January might limit me.
At least I get to go to all the home football games.

Construction--either road or a general contractor. Look at places like Manatis or PCI. Roofing is also a good one. Hard work, but very good pay.
Lawn care/landscaping would be another good option.
Work for the city. They are always hiring summer workers to do upkeep on roads, parks, etc.
Don't rule out working at a place like Lowe's either. Pretty good work and they will pay you a lot better than you expect.
Edit: Do what agronomist said before trying any of mine.

Seed company. Run a pollination or detasseling crew in the summer and then help with hand harvest in the fall.

If you are staying in Ames, try Arctic Glacier. I worked there 3 summers of college. Work in a cooler all day stacking and moving ice, running pallet jacks. Rough for the first week maybe, easy as can be once you get the hang of it. Always had fun working with the guys that work there year round. Great Job to get your by for a while. All the free ice you could ever want too.

Find a clubhouse. Crappy pay but if you do a good job there is a killing to be made in tips.
