    Re: Act of Valor

This movie was absolutely incredible! Definitely a must-see movie! As said earlier the acting was not as bad as some might think and the plot is very good. Had me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion and had me fighting back tears at the end. You won't regret going to see this movie.

Like others said, thank you to any fanatics as well as anybody else who has served or is serving. You're doing something that I respect greatly and could never do myself. Thanks!!

So the main characters are all actual Navy Seals then? Or are there actors and the Seals make cameos?

All the SEALS are active duty SEALS. This project initially started out as a recruitment video or something, and it evolved into a full-scale production.

So, to those who have seen it...

Inappropriate for a 14 year old? I won't take him if there is glorified violence and gore, sex, drugs, etc.

Really pumped to see this movie. I read the book and you can tell they know what they are talking about. There was so much military jargon in it that for a person without the background it made it hard to understand at times. So the movie should fill the holes for me. Sounds like I need to make a date with my nearest movie theater.

FWIW: Act of Valor (2012) - Parents Guide

I have not seen it and I don't know how accurate these things. It might be able to help better than someone that has actually seen it.

No. Minimal foul language is all. Of course, dudes get shot-up, but it's not glorifying that. Take him. It's a great learning tool for anyone, especially teens.

Hmm. My son saw and loved Band of Brothers, so I guess a comparison to that would be helpful. First impression is that it might be a bit more than I'd let him see right now.

I might add that he is really interested in becoming a soldier, so an accurate portrayal of the realities of that and of war are something I want him to be aware of.

This is a no BS look at the life of someone in the military. Obviously, the deployments will vary, but it does deal with leaving your loved ones behind and losing a friend.

People think full metal jacket is a fake look at marine corps bootcamp. However, its so spot on you can tell r lee army was an actual drill instructor. Its spot on. That is why I want to see this movie. Real seals will bring the same thing ermy brought to fmj. Not just hollywood b.s
