    Re: Act of Valor

Went and saw this today. Unbelievable action scenes and really cool to see an authentic look at how those missions work. Very detailed which adds a lot of realism.

The acting was god awful, but since they are real Navy Seals you can't really expect a whole lot since they are usually pretty busy, you know, being the most badass individuals on the planet.

Also the explosions were more excessive than I expected. Lots of cars getting hit with a rocket or something and then there was a secondary explosion per the usual hollywood style. That surprised me a bit.

Overall a good movie as long as you are willing to look past acting that wasn't very good.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

I saw the movie with my sons Friday. The dialogue was a bit "forced" at times and there were a hand full of over the top scenes. The timeline was seriously compressed but overall the look into the effort and sacrifice these guys give was authentic and I found the movie extremely compelling.

The story line was OK (as far as the narco-terror connection goes) because I think that is a big risk in the current world we live in.

All in all it was better to have Seals playing actors than actors playing Seals.

Even though I saw it at the beginning being reminded of the harsh reality that many damn good men never live to see their unborn children because of the life they choose it was still pretty emotional for me at the end of the movie.

What, you don't think Charlie Sheen and Bill Paxton were authentic in "Navy Seals"?

Bruce Willis played a better Seal than either Sheen or Paxton and he was still way behind the curve.
