Re: DM Register Wins Triple Crown

The Register being an award winner makes it easy to understand why newspaper sales are in the tank.

How? That section is incredibly small and has little information regarding anything outside of Iowa.

Re: DM Register Wins Triple Crown

And here I thought someone was going to say something positive about how the Reginald covered the win over KSU. Thinking maybe a blurb on the front page banner, major headline and photo above the fold on the sports page, and a nice featurette on Scotty and how he eclipsed Fred's career 3 point performance.

I have no idea how it really was covered and probably should not have responded to this tread, because I'm really beyond caring.
No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

    If the triple crown is:

    Reducing quality
    Reducing quantity
Firing employees while keeping some horrible ones (rekha basu, in particular) around.

Then yes, the rag is deserving.

Next year they can get an additional award for adding 'attempting to get people to pay for the first 3'

This is obviously made up because according to the media experts here, the register is the worst on the planet. I demand that they take this fake story down.

Its funny you mention that because I was trying to find out more about the APSE. When I googled it, there is something below the link that the website may be compromised.

Their measure for quality must be relative to the rest of the paper. The sports section, like Register overall, has gone downhill...but not as quickly as the other sections.

Not that I need to illustrate my point to this audience, but two of their top stories today are about the incredibly important topics of license plates and VCRs. Snore.

Re: DM Register Wins Triple Crown

its probably because there are only 10 sports sections left in the country.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

This must be an award every paper gets every few years, so no one gets left out.
The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne
