Thinking maybe a blurb on the front page banner, major headline and photo above the fold on the sports page, and a nice featurette on Scotty and how he eclipsed Fred's career 3 point performance.

Its funny you mention that because I was trying to find out more about the APSE. When I googled it, there is something below the link that the website may be compromised.
Their measure for quality must be relative to the rest of the paper. The sports section, like Register overall, has gone downhill...but not as quickly as the other sections.
Not that I need to illustrate my point to this audience, but two of their top stories today are about the incredibly important topics of license plates and VCRs. Snore.
