Anyone live in Phoenix or spent some time golfing down there to know any of the courses? I am going down there in about 3 weeks and will be golfing 2-3 of those days.
I have been down there once before and golfed both the TPC courses and The Sanctuary (now operated by Phil Mickelson and called McDowell Mountain).
Would like to see some of the other courses. Any suggestions?
I played one in Tempe several years ago in January. I think it was a university course. The grass was so burnt that it was like playing on Shredded Wheat.
In case it isn't obvious, this isn't a recommendation.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

Sounds like the students at the university thought the grass was a different kind of grass.

I have a buddy that helps run the Gateway Tour down in Arizona. I'll ask him for a list of good places to play. Might want to check with ZJohnson on here as well. Pretty sure he is in the golf industry down there in AZ as well.

True. Every single time I play Veenker and I see one of the "impossible" pin positions I quickly start scanning the tree-line for you jackasses in the woods watching and laughing as everyone 4 or 5 putts.
#2 is the worst. That hole has ruined my round many a time. Not the tee shot, not the approach, but that freaking green. It is pure evil.
