My opinions are way different than theirs:
Patio: Mullets
Chinese: Tsing Tsao or Rice Bowl
Pizza: Orlondos
$10 dinner: Tasty Tacos, High Life
Steak: Johnnys Italian

B@B Grocery store wins again. Good job voters. That place is great.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Waveland has the best Country Fried Steak around and I have tried them all... Since that's all I eat when I go out for breakfast, that puts them ahead in my book...
Hadn't heard/seen about the new patio for the new Buzzard Billy's... their old patio still is the best around, something needs to be done to bring that back

Jethro's weekend breakfast is my favorite, but I don't go out for breakfast much.
I'm a big fan of the Bait Shop patio, astroturf aside. Its a good vibe, and has a great view of the skyline.
I like the Beaverdale bar patios too. Good Son's, Saints and Tally's all have awesome patios.

Love B&B. Manhattan Deli is awesome as well. Both of those are much better places to get a meal for less than $10 than Hy-Vee is.

This. We noticed they had breakfast by chance, one time, and I was shocked at how good it was. Pulled Pork Omelet with a biscuit and hashbrowns. Fantastic.

The Brisket omelet with onions and peppers is great. Getting chili on the hashbrowns is awesome too.

I used to work with a guy from Malaysia and he said HyVee Chinese was the second best he's eaten in Iowa (first was that one place in Boone). But I agree the different Hy-Vee's are different in their quality.

Re: Cityview-Best of Des Moines
Was Rube's on the ballot for local steakhouse? Chicago SpeakEasy is a hidden gem in Des Moines too if you are looking for good Prime Rib and a great salad bar. Suprised to see Jethro's beat out Smokey D's for best BBQ but both are pretty good either way.
I think Centro was very deserving of the awards they got. I've never had a bad meal or bad service there.

Best Local Thai: King & I (Cool Basil won, which is pretty good)
Best local Sushi: While it won runner up, Sakuri Sushi is amazing. By far the best I've had locally.
And I agree on the Hy-Vee Chinese...Hy-Vee at Jordan Creek Pkwy & University has amazing Chinese.

Last time I walked by, it looked like there was some activity occuring in that space but I have yet to read/hear of anything going in there.
On Buzzard Billy's- yes...they are building it out now and it is looking pretty cool. In fact, it appears they are putting patios on both the north and south side of the building.
