Funny Thing Happened To Me Tonight

So I was walking to my apartment from my car and a huge black truck drove down the aisle I was walking down. As the truck was coming towards me he slowed down to a complete stop. He rolled his window down and when I passed him he asked a question. I thought he said, "Do you know where Thames is?" I asked him what he said and he replied back with, "What town are we in?" I probably looked at him like he had 5 heads because he was wearing an Iowa State hat. I said, "Ames". His girlfriend in the passenger seat said, "Damn, I thought we were in Des Moines." They drove off and I went on my way. This is funny because I live in Fredericksen Court so you have to be an idiot not to know your on the Iowa State campus, especially since your wearing an ISU hat. And since when did Ames even resemble Des Moines? Sorry it's long, just thought I'd share a good laugh.

I overheard a girl in the Ames Target talking to a GF on her phone. last week I heard the entire conversation since, for some reason, she felt compelled to have her phone set to speakerphone. Annoying.
She was trying to give her girlfriend directions to Ames. from DSM She told her she needed to take I80 to Ames. Normally I would have pointed out her error, but since they were both dropping the f-bomb right and left and I was getting my kids out of hearing range, I declined. I figured it was best for society to keep these two geniuses apart for as long as possible.
Wonder if she's still in I-80 wondering where the heck the Ames exit is?

When I lived off-campus, and group of my buddies and I went duck hunting at Goose Lake, near Jefferson. At the time Hwy 30 kind of split at the west end of town, so that you could come in on Lincolnway or continue on Hwy 30. Some of us got back and had the chili cooking, but a couple of our buddies from Des Moines were no-shows. After about two hours they came rolling in. They'd finished a 12 pak on the way to Ames, and apparently missed the exit. They stopped at the Casey's at Colo for a refill and asked how much farther to Ames. The clerk told them 20 miles and asked where they were coming from. They said she was really not wanting to sell them the beer, after they told her it was Jefferson.

I don't know if we can place any blame on the guy. For all we know, he could have known they were in Ames, but his idiot GF wanted to ask.
