Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
I have a 2011 F-150. Love it. Great ride. The biggest advantage to me vs the Chevy is the legroom in the crew cab. You would rather sit in back than shotgun. The styling is great too.
I've had a Chevy too. But this ford is the newest style. I have the 5.1 not the Eco-boost and it pulls great and I get 16.5 mpg. I wish I had the Eco boost per opinion of others but there is nothing wrong with the little V8. I get about 14 mpg on e-85 which is better than I thought it would be.

It's like a limousine in the backseat of a crew cab if you have a F150 2010 model or later. Unreal the amount of room back there.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
I haven't had a truck of my own for several years now. But I do work for a company that goes through many work trucks in a year... We were strickly Chevy for the first 3 year I was there. Last year we switched to Ford. This year we switched back to
Chevy. There is a reason...
Let me say... Personally if you look at top of the line trucks. I love the way the Chevy rides more and how quite it is. The Fords do rattle a lot. Interior wise it's a toss up in my mind. And the 5.3 is a nice engine that is quicker then the Ford. At least from personal experience.
Anyway, work truck wise, our company trucks were extremely plain. No power anything and only am/fm radio. Didn't know they still made trucks like that. The
Chevy trucks we have in fleet end up with better gas mileage. They had lower repair costs overall. We got around 250,000 miles out of all our chevys and only 150,000 out of our Fords.
Hope this helps out...

As for half ton pick-ups, I don't think you can really mess up. I bought my 09 Chevy a little over two years ago. Had I been able to get the same options on a Dodge for even close to the same money, I would have gone with the Dodge. The problem was that it was going to cost me about 5 grand to do that. I love my pickup but today, it really doesn't matter which half ton you get. You will probably like it. Just buy the one you want. As for the back seat space, I didn't care. It's my pickup I'm never sitting in the back.

The current 6.7 ltr powerstroke does not suck. You are referring to the previous 2 versions which were made by International. The new Powerstroke is now made in house by Ford and is great engine with good reliability and fuel mileage.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
Also- maybe Chevy is this good as well- my truck was outside in a tennis ball size hailstorm last year in Omaha. Neighboring vehicles were beat to a pulp.... You could hardly notice it on my ford. I was shocked. The body panelling is incredibly tough.
When is Chevy changing their body style again? They've had that for 5 years now? Anyone know?

Which one are you. why support the government motor company and chrysler. they received stimulus money from the government . they should have gone thru bankruptcy and not have gotten any money from the government.
ford did not have to get any money from the government.they still are run by ford family heirs and know how to make money with out any government handouts. ford has been the the top truck in sales in texas for several years. i would take a ford over any government motors truck any day. nissan is doing very well with their truck sales.too.
i cast my vote for ford!!!!!!!

I am just talking about real world experences. I dont abuse pickup too bad and had transfer case and tranny issues with the 05 I had, the 06 I still have and my transfer case is going on my 08. My brother drives like an old man and has to put a new trany in his 08 at 25,000 in a pickup he doesnt pull too hard. My dad has never pulled anything but a boat with his 04 and had to put a new tranny in before 50,000. I was raised as a Chevy guy but this **** is getting old.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
My husband bought a GMC SLT in 2005. it's for sale, with 165K miles on it. LOVE that truck. In January his company switched from paying mileage to providing a company vehicle. In January his Ford Ecoboost arrived. So far, gas mileage is no better thatn the GMC. In February we took the new Ford out to Rapid City, SD. After that trip we both agreed the ride in the GMC is far better than the Ford.
We keep crazy-detailed records of every fill-up and maintenance of our vehicles. We can tell you the mpg on every tank going back to the day we bought them. The GMC has been great, no complaints.
My last observation is that when I drive the Ford I feel like I'm the captain of a barge. He's 6' and 5'2. The GMC adjusts for me, where the Ford seems to be made for Paul Bunyon. And I really miss the arm rest in the GMC that flipped down beside the consol. Sometimes it's the little things...
Oh hay, the GMC is for sale because the two of us don't need four vehicles. PM I'd anyone is interested. GREAT truck for the money, very well cared for. $12K, OBO.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
I have spend some time driving my buddy's 2011 F150 FX4 with the Ecoboost V6. Outstanding vehicle. I'm a car guy, and that is the first truck I've ever been In that I could actually see myself owning. Size feels right, power is great, interior feels less utilitarian than most trucks tend to.
Also pulled a 25 foot trailer from Iowa to Cali and back last summer in a 2011 a Ram 2500 Laramie. A lot of similarities to the 1500. Good power, a lot of nice creature comforts. No mistaking the interior for that of a car; a truck for truck guys.
Haven't driven a Chevy newer than an 04 model, so it's probably not fair to discuss them.
Been a GM guy all my life, but Ford would get my money. Probably wouldn't even give the Chevy a courtesy drive.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
Have a 08 silverado that is just about 4 years old now. With around 71k miles and no problems at all so far I am very happy with my choice.
I did really like the F150 too, but they were so much more expensive back then and had worse gas mileage then the silverado to boot.
The vehicle drives as smooth as a car, sometimes you can forget you are actually driving a truck. Has no problem pulling my skidloader around when needed, though I did like the extra 1500 lbs the F150 was rated to tow. I don't tow that much weight frequently so it did not really matter.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
I, and everybody that rides with me, love my '10 Sierra. It is the All Terrain package so it's a
little nicer than the rest. I don't think I would buy a Silverado because I don't care for the style and they are EVERYWHERE.
Personally its all about your preference in what feels better. All will have their pros and cons.
Regarding the bailout, honest question, how many were laid off between the two companies? Also, did GM pay off their debt with interest? I hated seeing a once proud company taking well fare, but it seems it worked out. I really don't know.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
Not overly fact based, but my opinion. I drive a 2010 Dodge Ram Crew Cab SLT now... I absolutely love everything about it. It's great. I had a Chevrolet before that and it was awesome as well. I cannot get on board with the look of the Fords. I would buy another Chevy truck in a HEART BEAT. So my opinion, go Chevy.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
My 2007 Silverado (new style) is a great truck.
And I'm guessing the Chevy you saw had a 6spd transmission. Which changes things, comparing rear gearings.
Nothing wrong with the Fords either. $ for $ my Chevy pulls just as good and has more bells and whistles.

Re: 2012 Chevy Silverado or Ford F150 4x4
Ford.
If it was good enough for Fred and Lamont Sanford, it should be good enough for any of us.
