I agree... you ever hear the old saying:

Stupid people talk about other people
    Smart people talk about events
    Geniuses talk about ideas

I think it helps explain the popularity of reality TV.

Rednecks and aliens. That's pretty much the extent of History Channel programming these days.

When was the last time you heard actual music on MTV? Heck, CMT even has this problem anymore.

The thing with History is that I think they saw the success Discovery was having with Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch. Ice Road Truckers was clearly an attempt to copy Deadliest Catch.

I like watching Pawn Stars and American Pickers, because there's the element of history with the items getting bought and sold. And just looking at the website, I found a show I didn't even know they had, American Restoration. Has anyone watched that one before?

But I agree, I wish there was a lot more programming like there used to be. I was glued to History a few years ago.

Yeah with Rick Dale, it's pretty good. I watch a lot of History Channel. Pawn Stars, and to a much lesser extent, Cajun Pawn Stars. Top Shot is a good show. The new Full Metal Jousting is decent enough, How the States Got Their Shape was a really good series.

I'm with Chuck on this one. I DO like and watch American Pickers, but I'm finding I check out the History channel less and less because I rarely find anything worth watching.

I'd love it if they brought back some of the shows like Modern Marvels, The Nostradamus Effect, and the one about how the universe was made. I always really enjoyed those shows. But I do really wish they'd go back to documentary-style programming. Guys like Napoleon I'm interested in. And I'd love to see something in-depth on John Dillinger. One of the most captivating men on the last century.
