When to start mowing?

My wife was pregnant all last summer so I mowed all the time. Told her she owes me this summer.

As soon as I get out of the hospital I'm mowing

As late in the spring as you can get away with. Grasses are adapted to grazing, so their growth is stimulated when they are cut. So once you cut your grass that first time, the growth rates increase. So put it off. Unless you love mowing, that is.
