Re: Founders beer now found in Iowa
While I believe that we'll always want what we can't have (Founders, Lagunitas, Stone), we have some great breweries right here in Iowa that produce great beer!
Olde Maine Brewing - Ames IA
Peace Tree Brewing - Knoxville IA
Madhouse Brewing - Newton IA
Hub City Brewery - Stanley IA
Mill Stream Brewing - Amana IA
I just visited Hub City this weekend. They are now distributing to Chicago! Touring Peace Tree this Saturday.

Also, I'm definitely a fan of the Olde Main brews and would like to try all of the Iowa brewery offerings. I think it's great that there's so much variety available across the board, in state, regionally, and nationally.

^ I also did the tour at Peace Tree. Tour itself isn't anything special as it's a very small operation, but the beer is great!

Re: Founders beer now found in Iowa
I've had just about all of theirs except the KBS. Anyone know if Iowa will get that?

I've had it and it's crazy good, but there are some comparables out there. No, Iowa will not get it and it's caught fire right now in an insain way. I've heard it's being sold on craigs/ebay for bucco right now but I haven't investigated. I live in Grand Rapids and go to Founders for lunch and beer 3-4 times a year and I can't seem to time it right to get some of the KBS. If you can get your hands on their Dirty Bastard or Breakfast Stout I think it's pretty good for the money.

The Dirty Bastard is pretty decent and regular Breakfast Stout is fantastic, I actually had one last night.

Is the KBS different than the Breakfast Stout?

The more we can make stuff like Founder's and Lagunitas fly off the shelf, the more we can convince breweries like Oskar Blues, Dogfish Head, etc to start distributing in Iowa.
Regarding Surly, I think that the hold up on their distribution is on the Minnesota end of things. I've heard (have not researched this) that they have some strange laws that limit the distribution of breweries under a certain level of output, and until Surly expands their production, they won't be able to distribute out of the state. Good luck with this one....they were actually pulling out of distributing in some states last year...

Heading to the east coast for a trip later this week, and will be looking for some 90 minute to take home.

Yet here you are, on a beer snob thread, telling people what you drink and slamming people who prefer a quality beer. Who's the *********?

Re: Founders beer now found in Iowa
I still want to know what "bid light" is.
