Re: Wallaby's make list of top 101 best sports bars
A long wait is usually a good thing; meaning the food is good so people want to be there.

Getting Wallaby's in there was one of the few highlights. My only regret of hanging in Wallaby's is I think lost my hearing there.

It's over priced
The tv set up is horrendous, at least it was last time I was there.
The service isnt the best, a girl was once fired while still waiting on my wife and her table. She came back to the table crying to pick up the check.
There are a few decent items on the menu, but overall there are many places in ames id go to before wallabys. I'm gonna disagree with pretty much everything here.

It's a sports bar, it's busy because it's good and a popular destination. It's no smaller than most restaurants in Ames, which have very similar waits. I get the feeling you don't go out in Ames on Friday night a lot.

That's what I was going for, but you said it way better.

There are a few decent items on the menu, but overall there are many places in ames id go to before wallabys. 1. No place to wait?? What about the huge bar? Or do you prefer to sit on a bench by the coat closet sans beverage?
2. I wouldn't say it's cheap, but their prices are right in line with any other sports bar in Ames or DSM. http://www.wallabysbarandgrille.com/...-Main-Menu.pdf
3. Personal TVs at most booths. I'll give you that it doesn't have a premium BIG screen (at least they didn't last time I was there), so it's not a great location for game watches.
4. Never had a problem with the service, your example sounds more like an extreme exception than the rule.
5. I don't think there's a better sports bar & grill in Ames, but I'd be happy to hear your recommendation.

Agree with all of this. ^
It's easily the best sports bar in Ames. Plus it's PRO Iowa State. What's not to love?
