Flipping off customers
Yay or Nay on this one? Local place that I go to for a good calzone.
"Be Nice or Leave"

I have owned Gepetto's for nine years of the 42 we've been open. My crew and I love the fact that Gepetto's attracts such chill customers.
We had a great flow of business tonight, which my crew kept up with even understaffed...YAY TEAM! ...until the most horrid people in the world came in with their two children. They decided to stiff their server because he brought lemons with their hefeweizen (the proper garnish for this beer) when they had requested oranges. Did I say garnish? Twenty minutes in to their being seated they had managed to offend the entire front of house staff, and were requesting their food to go before it had even come to the table. As they were leaving, I gave the server permission to flip them off, which started a big altercation. So I also flipped them off and had to block the lady from coming back in, almost had to call police. Husband (dad!) appeared drunk, slurring his words, etc.
The reason I own my own business is to retain the right to a happy work place. My staff is my family, don't disrespect them...we are doing our best. To those who stiff servers out there, I hope you never have to rely on a service industry job to support your own family. The sign at the front entrance says, "be nice or leave", and we mean it. Peace. Love. Gepetto's!
I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -

I'm good with it.
People who are *** holes need to be notified of that and notified often. These customers sound like the type that thinks their **** don't stink and some how think they are better than people who actually work for money.

Make that gesture, expect a confrontation. Bad call as a business owner.

LOL. "had managed to offend the entire front of the house staff"...Giving them the finger for all the stuff mentioned is pretty much completely unacceptable IMO if you're a business. Pretty dumb, but whatever.

Re: Flipping off customers
A mature person would just ask them to leave.

Re: Flipping off customers
But I still want their calzones. :(

Re: Flipping off customers
I think there are ways in that industry to make your point to that customer(s) without offending others (kick out with notice that they are no longer welcome on their way out). I think the route the owner took was not one of those ways.

Will they ship to Houston?

Re: Flipping off customers
Tell them to leave and not come back is acceptable, to flip them off is a bit immature. No, it's a lot immature.
