As someone who has been "rightsized" twice, I sympathize with anyone who loses their job but: 1) Early retirement takes the sting out considerably....

It depends on what kind of retirement package they got. But, whatever they got, I agree it's better than hearing "it's only a business decision, but we need to go a different direction"-- hit the door.

I never got into Marc Hansen's stuff. While some people didn't like Keeler, I thought he was very fair, and at least a more skilled writer.

Umm, do you not remember how he went after Tinsley over and over? Apparently, things got so bad and they got so many complaints he was reassigned to the lifestyle pages and off sports?

Very far from the truth, unless they had someone ghostwriting for her and the work under her byline actually wasn't hers.

Have I read anything of hers lately? No. My time is valuable to me* and I know when to cut my losses.

Not me. I have no love lost for either Hansen or Witosky. Hansen's columns were rather boring and old fashioned...it REALLY made me miss Keeler (although I was never a Keeler hater). Witosky's job was pretty much to be the ******* that found any wrong doing and make a huge story about it, and for the most part, he did an OK job at that. I don't think anyone would want to see Witosky like articles over here...
