    Re: Weekend beer of choice

This thread makes me sad and incredibly jealous... I gave up beer about a month ago in order to stick with my diet for a while. I'm using beer as the incentive to reach my goal weight... I've got a long way to go. The worst part is that I have my beer fridge full of the whole line up of surly, founders rye pa & centennial, bells 2 hearted and hopslam... (the hopslam is the biggest tragedy as I have a case slowly losing its flavor)... I also have the 21st amendment back in black, the bells oarsmen, and a variety of sierra hanging around... This doesn't even include the big bottle collection I have for special occasions, (like friday nights).

Worse, I brew beer too, so I've got a stout and a maris otter/citra smash ipa on tap. Everything I'm brewing currently is a sour/brett so that the fermentation time is 6 months min, and most are over a year. I'm a beer travesty right now.

At my local HyVee. It is just about out of season though.

Where is the smoked fish place? I grew up in NE iowa (Sumner) and am not familiar.

It's in Prairie Du Chien, right after you cross the river on 18. South side of the road. All kinds of weird, delicious things there.

Thanks! It's been a long time but I think I know where it is now. I used to drive through there twice a month on trips out to Milwaukee and I never stopped. I used to have a mercury lynx (like a ford escort) hatchback in college that barely made it up the hills past prairie du chien... Turns out the idiot that sold it to me was putting the wrong spark plugs in and they would always burn up (took me about 10 spark plugs to figure that out).

I would have never thought of stopping there if my FIL hadn't pulled in one time we were over that way.
