I swear (with some kind of voodoo) you could put Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and 150 hot naked women running around on a ticket and charge $5 for it and most here would still say that it's "weak". Lolla is pretty expensive at $230. Plus, add in travel and lodging. I was hoping for a few better bands than some washed up old ones reuniting for Lolla. There are a ton of bands on that list that I would like to see, but I just cant justify the price.
Like others have said, Rivers Edge has a pretty solid line up, as does Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo is quite a bit more expensive but I think they have so many more bands that could actually headline as opposed to 2 or 3.

Bonnaroo is quite a bit more expensive but I think they have so many more bands that could actually headline as opposed to 2 or 3. It depends on what bands you're going to see. It might not be a good price for someone who doesn't like RHCP, Black Sabbath, etc, but of course let's remember that $230 covers three days (just under $77/day). Think about it this way:
RHCP - $70 after tax at a major venue
Black Sabbath - $60 at least
Black Keys - $50 at least
Jack White - $40-$50 at least
Now, the "supporting acts" are at least $25-$35 each if not more, and then under that each group is at least $10 to see on their own. If you actually are interested in at least half of the headliners and a large handful of other groups, it's a good deal if you go for all days. It's a tiring festival, but not a bad deal.
My own personal opinion is that it's a pretty solid lineup. I think a lot of people fall too much into trying to go against the mainstream or something. RHCP is still a great band, Black Keys are great, Black Sabbath is Black Sabbath, and there's a large handful of other good bands, and some people haven't heard of too much (i.e. Alabama Shakes or Gary Clark Jr if you're into that type of rock. Even Little Dragon is interesting and about to tour with RHCP). There is probably not one single person on here who probably knows every single artist on the bill and there's most likely a few hidden gems in there. Just because a group isn't known by name doesn't mean they automatically suck.

I would pay $70 to see RHCP in their prime...and thats about it.
Sabbath...I really dont want to see geezer Ozzy up there ruining songs that I love.
I'm sad that the Keys are taking their act to arenas, they were amazing in smaller venues.
Jack White would rock.
That day ends up being a 300-350 day after buying tickets and a bottle of water. Festivals are great, but I personally enjoy seeing individual bands in concert. Just my 2 cents. Plus, didnt they stream Lolla or Bonnaroo on YouTube last year?
It is a great opportunity to see bands that you normally wouldnt be able to catch. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the Weeknd, Gary Clark Jr., Washed Out, Aloe Blacc, The Sheepdogs, Frank Ocean, SBTRKT...and I would love to just see Hayley Reinhart, because I think she's the most wonderful girl in the world.

Well, water is free there. Bring a water bottle and there are numerous fill stations for free. The food is what will get you but there's a number of places where you can eat for pretty cheap. Or just bring in a back pack with homemade sandwiches. People do it all the time.
I don't think it was Lolla, must have been Bonnaroo. Lolla had a nice presence on YouTube, but they'd put parts of concerts on their channel a day after the fact.

The undercards for Lolla is where the gold is:
Florence & The Machine
Justice
Sigur Ros
Kaskade
Die Antwoord
Little Dragon
Of Monsters & Men
Dum Dum Girls
Neon Indian
Calvin Harris
Shins
Those are all solid live acts, outdoors, in a festie atmosphere? Seems like a good time to me. Beat traffic and cut out early to skip all the boring headliners (save for Jack White) and go drinking in Chicago til 4am?

Bonnaroo is around $250 (even cheaper than that if you buy early) and that includes camping. Lolla's price does not include lodging. So roo isnt quite a bit more expensive.
I think the roo lineup is better too.

Add Gary Clark Jr and Alabama Shakes to that list too.

Die Antwoord alone is worth any amount of cash. If you haven't heard them, give them a listen.

Most of these are on Sunday...which apparently I just got tickets for my birthday!
Anyone else going any of the days? I'm actually moving to the Chicagoland area in July, so I'm pretty pumped.
