*** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
Looks like a solid lineup this year. Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, and Black Keys are all headliners with a number of other good bands playing. The one I will want to see that is lesser known is Gary Clark Jr. Great guy who lit it up in 2010 at Crossroads Guitar Festival.

It's an alright lineup. Shame they couldn't get Radiohead like Coachella and Bonnaroo though.

Yep, but they have rules about headliners. Radiohead is playing Tinley Park in June and it pretty much goes against the rules (you can't perform within a certain number of miles of chicago within a certain number of months of lolla..something like that)...so that's most likely a big reason they aren't playing.
Re: *** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
disappointing for a festival like lollapalooza
Re: *** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
Wow, kind of a disappointing lineup from top to bottom. RHCP have been producing the same album for the last ten years or so, Black Sabbath is predictable, etc.
Re:*** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
I was surprised to see Florence and the machine on the list, also m83. I consider both to be headliners.
Re: *** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
Wow. I was actually thinking about going this year, but that lineup isnt that great.
Re: *** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
Worst Lolla lineup I can remember.

Nice to see At The Drive In is in reunion mode.....too bad its just for Coachella and this gig.

I love M83, but no way they could be considered headliners for a show like Lollapalooza. They could certainly headline smaller festivals or festivals geared more toward their genre. You may be able to make a little more of a case for FATM, but even that would be a stretch.

glad i picked bonnaroo over lolla this year

I agree. As I said "I consider". I guess we both agree this concert doesn't really have a headliner. Not good.
Rivers Edge in St. Paul appears to be a much better option.

For sure. It's closer (for me), tickets are way cheaper, and the lineup is pretty good. Funny that both Tool and Puscifer will be performing.

Puscifer is an awesome opportunity to actually HEAR Maynard's vocal abilities. TOOL just plain rocks live, but Puscifer was a good time too.
I really want to go to St Paul as I'm a huge TOOL and DMB fan...but I have a wedding. The wedding is in Minneapolis, so I hope I can swing something. That lineup is pretty sweet.
Re: *** LOLLAPALOOZA 2012 ANNOUNCED ***
My personal opinion is that this is a very solid line-up. There are around 30 bands on that list that I would love to see. From the sound of some of these festival threads I really don't understand what it would take to satisfy some people. You are paying a relatively small amount of money to see many bands, not all of which are headliners, but some that likely will be in the future. I swear (with some kind of voodoo) you could put Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and 150 hot naked women running around on a ticket and charge $5 for it and most here would still say that it's "weak".
