    What theme do you use? I can't find a one that I like, I hate pastel colors (which almost all of them are) and the contrast on many of them hurts my eyes. I also hate that in email conversations, the color differences are gone.

    I'm using "light" and have it set to compact.

    To me it seems similar to the old style but I've been using this for a while so I'm probably just used to it.

    You can disable that. See 3TrueFans' link above.

    You can get rid of the “importance” markers under Settings > Inbox:

    Also, hover on the "Inbox" tab on the left and select "Classic" under the drop drop down menu (downward pointing triangle)
