Re: Colorado or Washington D.C.
My uncle was given 3 minutes to evacuate last night in CO Springs. We got him out, only to have to turn around and drop off my cousin who was called in to fight the fire. Without some rain, or at the very least a wind direction change, it doesn't look good right now.

Soooo close you can taste it!

Re: Colorado or Washington D.C.
The two biggest fires along the front range are under control for the most part. Unless new fires get started, I wouldn't let them dissuade you from coming to Colorado.

Re: Colorado or Washington D.C.
I should also add that it is still hot and dry. Fire danger continues to be extreme throughout the state. If you do come, be careful out there.

Re: Colorado or Washington D.C.
This fire is two weeks early for the fire season. It will be a long hot summer in Colorado. And apparently, with the straight liner hurricane, also in DC.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Colorado or Washington D.C.
I would be going mid-September.

There are plenty of places to go that aren't affected by fires right now, and the mountains are extremely cool compared to the plains right now.
I was hiking in rocky mountain national park last weekend, it hit upper 90's in the plains, but it maxed out at maybe 75* in RMNP. Estes park was at about 80*.
