Lazerfest
Going to my first Lazerfest tomorrow. Wondering how many CF'ers have been to one to before and what to expect? They say to get there early, parking opens at 9, grounds don't open till 11:30 with first band starting at 1. So it's going to suck having to wait around for 4 hours. It wasn't till after I bought tickets that I realized they scheduled it for the same Sunday as Mother's Day which I think is stupid. But I'm going for 2 reasons: this year it's near Boone and this will be as close as this show comes to Ames area and the line-up Theory of a Deadman, Adelitas Way (Band that sings the song that mbb this season before the games), Five Finger Death Punch my newest favorite band and to close the show Shinedown, plus many more including Slash and Sebastian Bach.

Re: Lazerfest
I hope you don't have to work Monday.
If you stay till the end of the show, you might as well sleep in the car for a few hours if it is like it was in 2010. It was at a different location, but it sounds like a similar setup. It took us forever to get home.
I thought about going this year, but I dont think I will. I wouldn't mind seeing Sebastian Bach, but the rest... meh ...

I expect that my walls will vibrate, and for me to be annoyed by that.

Re: Lazerfest
Lazerfest has always sucked, but this year it will suck more than usual.
There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -
Re: Lazerfest
I've gone the last 2 years and had a great time even thought the venue in Indianola sucked. It was basically a mudpit last year. I'm looking forward to Boone this year, and the weather looks perfect. We always get there early and tailgate. My advice: 1) Eat a big breakfast 2) Drink a lot of beer, but mix in some water 3) Wear sunscreen 4) Take off work on Monday

Nice to see a hater show up. I get it the music there isn't for everybody but why put it down for those who do. I think this thing is a great event for the price of seeing one group you get to see several.

Did you expect anything different? It seems like the hipsters are a pretty vocal group on CF.

I really don't know what to expect either in the new location other than spending a lot of money.

One piece of advice for the OP--If you plan on meeting up with friends, do it before you get there or plan on meeting at x time near the never ending line of porta pots. The past several years there has been a big problem with cell service. I have Verizon and couldn't get a single text to go through and maybe 10% success rate on getting an outbound call to go through. Even with trying to call someone--good luck trying to find a place quiet enough to talk/listen.
Another piece of advice is if you get any more than halfway through the crowd towards the stage, keep your head on a swivel, because if you aren't paying attention you'll get booted in the back of the head by someone crowd surfing.
I'm planning on an hour from the second we get off of Highway 30 until we get in the gates. Also looking at alternative routes to where we could maybe come down from the north and maybe not face as massive of a line.
Lastly, enjoy yourself. The weather will be damn near perfect today. Low 70's, sunny, no wind. The last couple years have been rainy and/or cold

Re: Lazerfest
I live in Boone, where they are having it at is right on the corner of Highway 30 and Highway 17. I would think traffic would be able to get out very easily.

Re: Lazerfest
Looks much nicer than last year, the grounds should be dry and the weather will be nearly perfect today. It'd a good concert for the price if you like rock music, It was fun last year even with the poor conditions. Eat a good amount before you go in because the food prices are pretty high, same with drinks.

Getting ready to head out!!!! I love lazerfest and the fact it's only 10 minutes from my house now is even more awesome.
