Ames Restaurants

I seriously have never had a good experience at WTP.

My only good experience is when I go to the jukebox...put in my coinage....and yell loudly "We love America...We love Ames, Iowa...and, say it with me...WE....LOVE...THE CYCLONES!!!" as I do double fist pumps.:jimlad:

Never had a bad one there. Maybe you could elaborate? I guess my expectations aren't sky high when I'm eating at a bar.

Seconded.

As others have stated:
-Cafe has outdoor seating, great food.
-West Towne Pub has outdoor seating and a nice view of the drainage lagoon, I mean lake. Order the rib rolls and a burger.
-Dublin Bay. Not a great view but the Irish Nachos and fish and chips are yummy.
-Stomping Grounds is an excellent choice. Good food/drink and prime people watching. Sandwiches are a little on the fancy side for me but they taste pretty good.
-No trip to B-Bops can be considered complete without a shake and maybe chili.

I seriously do not have high expectations.
Everytime I've gone it seems like the waitress just doesn't care at all about the service. Last time we went, there was a group of 8. The waitress clocked out and went home after bringing out the bills. Our credit cards hadn't been rung up yet so each of us had to go up to the bar and pay.

That's too bad. We've never had an issue there. My only bad experience was due to being pregnant. My favorite sandwich did not end up good a few hours later:sad:

Then again we try to go there as close to five as possible.

We ended up going to Stomping Grounds on Welch. The food was pretty good, even though I am not big into the fancy sandwiches and everything. The atmosphere was amazing.

We had a great time and I highly recommend this to anyone else. Thanks for the replies!

Stomping Grounds was the location of my wife and my first date. No meal, just drinks, got her trained quick-like.

the only other bar I can think of with outdoor seating is Thumbs.


two restaurants not mentioned yet with small patios- Panera and Noodles & Co.
