I have a 2011 Z85 and love it. I've only had it for about 2 months and put almost 300 miles on it, but I would recommend a Felt to anyone based on my short experience so far.
I've found a 2011 at a bike shop (never been used) for $1,000.
Kind of new to the game so I'm not sure if that's a good price.
Looking online I see they run about $1,200.
Is $200 off of a year old bike about right?
From what i have seen, 200 is probably pretty close to normal, but i havent done a lot of bike shopping. In talks with bike shop employees, most of the brands are pretty simmilar in quality at the entry level, and the difference is mostly how the bike fits you.

I paid significantly less for a 2011 felt z85 about 2 months ago. But it was also because the 2012's were arriving, I bought a 56 and the dealer had a bunch of 56's he needed to get rid of.

I like the Z series over a trek 2.1 because it was more of an upright geometry, so it was more comfortable to ride.

I bought my 2011 a couple of months ago and paid $1,000 so they are right there with everyone else. Not going to find a better deal at this point in time as most shops have gotten rid of the 2011's and only have 2012's left. Get it! Pic of mine below
I have a 2011 Z85 and love it. Bought it new last year for a little over $1200. If you're just getting into road bikes it's pretty ideal. The Shimano 105 components make it a great value for the price.
