Totally agree. Working develops habits and attitude that will pay dividends "in the real world". I came from large family so parents wouldn't pay for any college, thus I worked and saved first 1-1/2 years worth while in HS. Got a job 3rd week in Ames and worked all six years in college. Graduated with multiple degrees and $15k in debt. Lived cheaply paid off all loans within 5 years, bought a house, paid that off in 12 years, got married, paid off the wife's college costs and now living debt and worry free. LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS and you will have no worries.
