Yeah, it's bad. Because IPAs are delicious??

Yeah, it's bad. They actually made a pretty good DIPA for the 2010 Brewfest in Des Moines. I don't know why they don't go back to it on a more regular basis.
Olde Main >>> Court Ave or Raccoon River. I just don't really enjoy any of their beers. Olde Main has some beers I don't care for, but they have some that I love.

Absolutely. Sodbuster is the best stout made in the state. Clone Ale is wildly inconsistent, I don't like ambers in general (so no Longface), and Dinkey is good for a wheat (but I don't like wheat beers a ton), and Scottish is pretty tasty.
The only one I think sucks is Longface, and a bad batch of Clone. A good batch of Clone is good stuff.

Re: Number 7 Brewing Company
Did Number 7 open for business this past weekend? If so, did anyone give it a shot? I was out of town, but I'm planning on hitting it up this Saturday (assuming it is, in fact, open).

Windows were covered with paper. Also, their fbook page said they weren't going to open. So I put two and two together.

It sounded like Miller and Brinson were there (or somewhere) for some tasting and such and had good things to say.

Was "selected" as part of the KXnO Fan Club to participate in their Number 7 Brewing Company VIP Reception last Thursday. They had 2 of their beers on tap...their signature Number 7 and a lighter beer. The beer was good. The BBQ will be unique to the Ankeny / Des Moines area. Slight undertones of cinnamon in their smoking and sauce. While it may sound strange, it was very good. Had their wings for an appetizer and ribs for the entree. The BBQ beans I had as a side left a little to be desired.

Re: Number 7 Brewing Company
Anyone else been over to Boone Valley Brewing in Boone. Went there a couple weeks back and was HIGHLY impressed. Great selection of beers and each one was amazing. Anyone that is an Hop Head like myself will love their IPA. It was one of the top 5 I have had and I have traveled extensively trying all types of IPA's.
Also they welcome you to bring food in and eat, nothing beat Jimmy's BBQ and some delicious local brews.

Rick is doing a great job at BVB!

Re: Number 7 Brewing Company
Swung by Number 7 while running some errands. They had a sign posted on the door saying that the open was delayed due to some unforeseen equipment issues, but they hope to open up yet this week.

Re: Number 7 Brewing Company
Like others have said, Number 7's opening has been delayed due to "equipment issues". I've heard that they are contract brewing until they are fully up and functioning.
Exile Brewing is slated to open downtown Des Moines the week of July 4th. The building is at 15th and Walnut.

I am going to have to stop by BVB sometime soon. Sounds like a field trip is in order.

Court Ave Brewery is much better, and their seasonals are actually something I look forward too. Raccoon River root beer isn't bad, though, and their food is better than Court Ave.
