Re: Prometheus summer's best flick? I think so.

Was not a huge fan of The Dark Knight, but enjoyed Batman Begins. I'm not a fan of the "dark" style that was popular when TDK was released. People claimed it was more realistic, but really it was just unrealistic in a negative way instead of unrealistic in a positive way.

I think Dark Knight Rises will do well and probably have a good chance of topping the box offices but it will not be the movie I enjoy the most. I still feel that Mr. Freeze should have been the villain for DKR, he's an interesting character with cool abilities and his character arc of turning out to be not totally bad in the end would have been a great way to close out the trilogy. His arc would basically be a foil for Harvey Dent, showing that Batman made progress in cleaning up Gotham. But, that ship has sailed.

Victor Fries would not have worked as a villain in the "Nolan-Verse" IMO

Worst trailer in the history of the world. I think that annoying, ear splitting siren thing had people in the theater spontaneously ******** themselves and convulsing.

From what I could make out of the movie, it only looked ok. I won't watch though for fear of hearing that noise again.
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

Sorry man, if you haven't seen Avengers yet, you're late to the "best movie of the summer" party, and have some pretty significant catching up to do before you join the class discussion.
I'll see Avengers eventually, but it doesn't excite me as much as a good 10-15 comics, sci fi and fantasy based movies and tv shows that have come before it in the last decade.

I didn't claim I was a gigantic fan of every movie based on a comic book, I said I'm a huge comics nerd as in actual comic books, going to the shop on wednesdays and knowing Hawkeye's first and last name before there was even an idea for an Avengers movie.

Ditto with owning several versions of the Alien franchise in laserdisc box sets. Didn't mean to get into a nerd-off with anybody but by all means tell me about your comic collection that must be in the many thousands. I'll be legitimately interested to hear about it.

Prometheus is definitely the movie I'm looking forward to most this summer (not a big fan of comic book/superhero movies, though I do want to catch Avengers and Batman). Ridley Scott has an awesome record on Sci-fi and other action flicks, and there are some great actors in this as well. The visuals look great. Pumped to watch it.

Watch the Batman Animated Series episode "Heart of Ice." Might change your mind about how Mr. Freeze can be used in a serious, dramatic context.

The early episodes of the 90s X-Men cartoon on Fox with the Sentinels are pretty awesome. It tailed off a bit toward the end but the first couple years are pretty awesome, wolverine's voice is awesome. Storm's...not so much.

Yeah, I'm not a comic book buff so the Animated Series Mr. Freeze and the one played by Arnold are the ones I know.

I think Freeze would be a good villain for the series, but the movie would be a lot more similar to Batman Begins than Dark Knight. Instead of facing the criminally insane Joker, he would be facing a morally ambiguous enemy like Ra's al Guhl. There would probably have to be another villain in the mix to make it work right, but I see a Mr. Freeze who is committing crimes but is not violent. Batman tries to figure out what's going on, eventually stumbling into a story similar to the Heart of Ice story. Batman (thinking he's learned his lesson from putting too much trust in Harvey Dent) locks Freeze away in Arkham. Crimes keep being committed and we discover that someone else is out there, basically using Freeze as cover for bigger badder plans. At a critical moment, Batman has to release Freeze to help him out. Freeze then goes off to live in Antartica working on medical research and Batman starts to think things might turn around after all.

Nope, I'm going to go with BANE and the "Knightfall/The Dark Knight Returns" storylines. In Nolan I trust, and this third movie is going to rock. With this film, the character BANE will become one of the most famous villians of all time.

The siren sound is an homage to the original Alien movie trailer. Personally, I like it and think it works to create the mood for the film. There isn't a movie that I'm looking forward to seeing more than Prometheus all summer.

Personally I am more interested in Prometheus than DKR. I am not into comic book movies at all and find most of them pretty ridiculous. I have no desire to see The Avengers or DKR. Flame away.
I have a hard time letting anyone compare Avengers or any Marvel film to Nolan's Bat films..The Marvel movies, while very entertaining are in some ways true comic book adaptions with all the supernatural and science fiction aspects put together in a very colorful (and sometimes campy/cartoony way). Nolan's take on The Caped Crusader was one built on realism and humanity and the fact that Bruce Wayne wasn't shocked by Gamma Radiation or was a Norse Demigod, that he was a troubled man wanting to do the right thing for his city, and each film has dove more into his psychology. The Nolan films take a look at a different emotion in each of the Films Batman Begins-Fear, The Dark Knight-Rage, and TDKR, Pain. The Dark Knight trilogy goes beyond the comic book genre because of it's realism, (What some call darkness) but that is what Batman is supposed to be about. I found the Avengers, Iron Man, The Hulk, all entertaining-but in a Transformers sort of way-plenty of action and explosions to keep your attention (Along with Megan Fox and Scarlett Johanssen)but an overall lacking plot built to cater to the minds of 10 year olds and up. The Dark Knight Films transcend that with excellent plots, stories, acting, themes, and cinematography (Chris Nolan will be at a loss with Wally Phister leaving his side to direct) and this is why you don't have to be a comic book fan to enjoy them. I'm certainly not

Ted will be the best movie of the summer.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

It's not that Freeze's morals and sense can't fit in, but the way he goes about things and his "powers"..Nolan took the Joker and his Chemical died skin and hair along with laughing gas, and replaced them with smeared make-up and a knife. He made scarecrow little more than a man in a suit with a burlap sack on his head, and he has turned Bane from a hulking, brainless menace into-well see for yourself..I don't see how Fries could've been used in the realistic world that Chris Nolan has painted, nor do I want to see. The Penguin, Poison Ivy, The Riddler could've all been applied in a way, but not Fries
