Prometheus summer's best flick? I think so.

Looks incredible, surprised it's not getting more hype. It's too bad they can't market it as a legitimate prequel to Alien (that it is) because of how horrendous Alien 4 and the AVP movies were.

Ridley Scott back to do a prequel to his film Alien? That's a slam dunk. Plus it's not like the guy has fallen off his game in a George Lucas way at all. If I could only see one of the summer's blockbusters it's this by a mile and I'm generally a fan of the comic book movies too.

I think Prometheus will be the best movie of the summer. I bet Batman makes more money but I'm not sure they can top the Dark Night

I have seen the trailers for Prometheus and I agree that they look pretty sweet.

Oh easily. I loved Batman Begins and liked TDK a lot, but that trailer looks booooooooooooooooooooooooring and cat woman makes me want to laugh. Think it's going to be a bit of a flop, pattern developing about third movie of a comic book trilogy.

Plus Alien is a much better film than any Batman movie and it's the original director back on the job.

The dark Knight is not one of the best movies period. When Heath Ledger is not on the screen, the movie is terrible. In other words, the only good parts of the film is when the joker is on screen. Every other part sucks. Batman Begins was a better movie.

Alien is an okay movie. I think it holds up pretty well which is about as good as you can say for any Sci-Fi movie. IMO it's not as good as The Dark Knight, and I'm not as huge of a TDK fan as a lot of people. I thought it was a good movie.

Batman Begins I can't even watch again.

I like Batman Begins more as well, but I did definitely like TDK. It's only a trailer...but I think the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises looks pretty iffy. I'm sure the opening weekend alone will be a huge gross, but I don't see it getting rave reviews or having staying power. The fans who think TDK is The Godfather are so pumped up I could see Anne Hathaway becoming Jar Jar Binks effectively if it's not awesome.

I could be 100% wrong because it's just a preview.

Being a fan of most of Ridley Scott's work, and Alien being in my top 25, I'd say there's hardly any chance I'm not going to love Prometheus.

TDK and Alien do share a very common thread that they both elevated their genre to new critical heights. In Alien's case it combined two genres and elevated them both quite a bit over anything previous. Star Wars had came out shortly before but at its core Star Wars is more adventure/character driven. Alien was real sci fi and horror blended seamlessly and an impeccable film in every way.

I'm not a hater, and I'm probably the biggest comic book nerd in the forum by a mile. I've watched the first two Nolan Batmans several times but these trailers just do not look as good as either of them. Some clips actually look bad. I hope I'm wrong and it's just as good or better than the first two.

If I watch Scott's Alien and the Prometheus trailer I get about 100x more excited to see it than the new Batman.

In fairness we're talking about a 1979 breakthrough film with its most true spiritual sequel coming out over 30 years later. Aliens was awesome but Prometheus seems more like the original in many ways.

Nolan is a great director, but Ridley Scott isn't chopped liver. I wonder if some even know who he is.

The Nolan Batman movies seem to get a little over-the-top in the melodrama at times. I think that Dark Knight Returns will be a solid movie, but probably just OK to good.
