I'm finding out that apparently I'm losing my hair as I age...

Anyone else having this problem? It's mostly in the back, where once was a colic is now slowly becoming a spot. I'm terrified, mostly because nobody on either side of my family has thinning hair. My great grandpa on my mom's side just passed away at 98 with a full head of hair.

I figure it's best to be proactive. Shaving it is not an option. I can feel what my scalp is like, and I know I'd look worse than even Shane Battier. Any tips? I have a feeling I may have to resort to Rogaine, though I'd hate to because of the cost. Don't they make shampoos and crap anymore that's effective in this sort of thing?

I'm 26 and essentially bald on top. I, luckily, have a shaped head that works for shaving.

Good luck wasting your money on the gimmicks. It took me about 2-3 years to realize they didn't even slow my hair loss.

Use high quality salon shampoo for a healthy head of hair and enjoy it while it lasts.

33 here and started losing mine around 27. Just on top. I'll basically have a head warmer in a few years like my pops. I know when I get my hair cut they always try to get me to try this shampoo (which I can't remember the name). I've excepted my fate and am not going to fight it.

That whole "It comes from your mom's side" argument is BS. No one on her side is bald. Now my dad's side, almost all the men are.

Get over it. Seriously; the earlier you accept it, the better. If you're lucky, it will happen slowly. It's not like you'll be alone here, and most women (especially the ones whose opinion you actually value) honestly don't care.

Pro tip- the shorter you cut your hair (not a buzz cut) the more hair it will look like you have.

I started losing it when I was 21 or so, pretty much all gone on top now. I just trim it all the way down with clippers now, much easier honestly.
