O at the Bellagio is great.
Ka at MGM has some amazing visuals ("story" isnt that good)
Mystere at Treasure Island is my favorite. It's more of a "feats of strength" type show than acrobats, cool sights, etc. You leave there wondering how those people can do some of the things they do.
Going in August can't wait the only other time I have been there was for the UNLV game. So yes please keep posting ideas.
The Rio has one of the best buffets around. The Palms is kind of a fun casino. My favorite though is the New York New York. I still have a good time at the piano bar and coyote ugly bar.
If you want to gamble old downtown is the best. The minimums are lower and the money lasts longer. The laser show is pretty cool. Just don't wander off the beaten path, it can get kind of hairy down there.
You will be surprised how small the pawn store is. There are all kinds of things to do like skydiving simulator, zip lines, etc.
I was just there last weekend. You can check out the newest hotels.. Aria & Cosmopolitan if you haven't yet, they are an artwork and no expense was spared. We had one good expensive dinner at Carnevino in the Palazzo, highly recommended. If you want to venture to a strip club, go for it, they are VERY available. All hotels have their bars/lounges and are generally good places to grab drinks and people watch. Spend some time at the pool, there's usually a lot of eye-candy around.
We hit the Bellagio Buffet at lunch which was fantastic. The Planet Hollywood was also very good.
As far as hotels I've stayed in the following
Luxur-Needs update and at the end of the strip
MGM(2)-Huge. Rooms were ok and the pool was nice.
Planet Hollywood(2)-Nice than I thought it would be. Not super luxury but in the middle
Monte Carlo(2)-I've stayed here twice. I like the location and the casino but the rooms are starting to age
Vdara-The nicest rooms I've stayed in LV. Nice and quiet but not a lot of things to do or places to go. Weird not having a casino.
Pallazo-Staying there for the 1st time in a couple of weeks
Would like to stay at the Mandarin Oriental as well as the Wynn/Encore.
Bouchon at Ventain.
The Pub is also good for beer and burger. The spicy aloi sauce is worth it alone.
The Cosmo as stated earlier is amazing.
I have no idea on how to but getting seats in the chandelier-bar at Cosmo would be fun. Have also heard good things about Absinthe outside of Csear's.
Also I thought TI buffet wasn't bad when I had a few years back but that might be because we ate there at 8pm after getting off the plane and our stomachs thought it was 10pm.
Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY is a neat place. There's a restaurant in Bill's Gamblin Hall called the Victoria Room or something. It's a musty, dark, damp craphole of a place with outstanding Chinese food. The casino changes names every few years, but the restaurant stays. . .
Well got to Vegas yesterday, The Pub here at the Monte Carlo is not a bad spot, around 300 beers on the menu (although expectedly a little overpriced) and looks like they have duel pianos tonight too. My cab driver from the airport said the world series of poker is going on at the Rio right now so might be interesting to swing down there and take someone's suggestion of the buffet there and hopefully catch a peek of that. Ate at some local spot BBQ place in Henderson last night which is a few miles away from the strip that was pretty good stuff: Home | Lucilles Smokehouse BBQ Worth the short drive if you have a rental car, there was some seafood joint in the same complex that looked good and there is a real nice local casino nearby that I'm told pays better odds then the casinos on the strip. I guess there are 3 of them called Station Casinos and the locals supposedly prefer gambling at those more so than the ones on the strip.
Feel free to post more suggestions here, I've got this afternoon and all day tomorrow with plenty of time on my hands till then one of my wife's coworkers that lives here is probably taking out out Saturday to some of the more local spots off the strip worth seeeing before we head home Sunday afternoon.
