It was called Suprep and you only drink like 16 ounces of the stuff each time, then follow up with a bunch of plain water. It tasted horrible and was difficult to chug down but had to have been better than drinking gallons of the stuff.
I'm 35 and had been having several issues which is why I had it done. I had to have an upper GI scope first (a few weeks earlier). Don't remember anything about that procedure. My doctor uses less sedation for the colonoscopy than the upper. I remember towards the end asking for my glasses back so I could watch the screen. It was kind of fascinating.

Re: Colonoscopy
Sooo I just came back. It was quick and easy, I stayed up the whole time and watched and it was actually incredibly interesting
Bad news is that they found stuff that requires surgery My teams: (as of 2/27/13) Cleveland Browns: 5-11 - .313 Cleveland Indians: 68-94 - .421 Cleveland Cavs: 19-38 - .333 Iowa State Cyclones (FB): 6-7 - .462 9/22/18 & 9/7/19 Akron and Iowa State CAN'T WAIT! -

Bad news is that they found stuff that requires surgery Don't sweat it - I had surgery on May 30 for the same thing. It's not fun, I won't lie to you, but it's worth it when you consider what you've avoided.
I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you! Yea, I'm mainly just afraid I can't get back to Iowa State in time depending on the surgery I am doing and its recovery time in relation to when I can get scheduled for it.

All that stuff can wait - this is number one on the list. So take it easy, tackle this task and the rest will fall into place - I promise!!

I've had to purge 3 times now and the Suprep (aside from costing me $70) is the absolute worst tasting stuff I've ever had.

Anyway... what can I expect? My father said his was vastly different because they found a tumor in the first turn, so it was cut short and it wasn't that bad...
You can follow my bowel movements starting here: http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/2915244-post58.html (Colonoscopy)
Started drinking the stuff around 5pm (CDT) Thursday Night
Don't sweat it, I had to have one when I was only 16. The procedure itself really isn't too bad but the day before sucks. You have to pump yourself full of laxatives and aren't allowed to eat for 24-hours prior. Definitely not a fun time but there are plenty of worse things out there.

Re: Colonoscopy
I would suggest one of the mods update the thread title to ******The Super, Mega, Huge Colonoscopy Thread***** It seems we have enough action here to keep this bad boy rolling along for a while.

Bad news is that they found stuff that requires surgery When I had mine they found 3 polyps but removed them as part of the screening. Sorry you have to go back for surgery. Hopefully that goes well for you.
And I don't remember a thing from mine. Except waking up feeling a little cheap. The $20 someone left by the bed didn't help either. They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

Good health is the key to a happy life. Iowa state and your friends will be around whenever you get your business sorted out. Good news they caught whatever it is before it snowballed.

2015, sorry to hear about your needing surgery, but glad that you are going to be able to get right on it.
They put me under for mine. Wish I had asked about the option to watch. Glad to report that it was "all clear" with me.
Thanks for starting this thread. It was helpful (and entertaining). 2015, you are always welcome at our tailgate. If you venture from the Student Lot, we tailgate right next to Hilton.

Bad news is that they found stuff that requires surgery Thanks, 2015, for pioneering this thread. I go in the week after next. Best wishes with your future treatment.
Question regarding the sedation aspect. They said something about not being able to drive for a day or so after the procedure. Procedure is early in the a.m. and I have class that evening. Can I plan on attending class that night or are you pretty much out of it 'til the next day? TIA

Just get this thing done.
