I need something to attach to the hose and spray upwards.
The point of the traps is to make money for the maker of the trap, and to make people feel better because they like to see dead beetles. Nevermind the consequences.
Welcome to 'Merica.
Our street backs up to a cornfield, so our houses are sort of a "last stop" for these darn things. Last year our neighbors tried the traps and they filled faster than they could collect them. They ended up filling garbage bags and putting them along the fence line. The husband is a pathologist for the hospital and also is one of the medical examiners for Story County. The smell from those beetles was worse than any dead cadaver he had ever smelled.
Permethrin works well as a deterrent when sprayed on the foliage. I've been using it with success for 3 years.
Spray foliage at first sign of beetles or even when you haven't seen one yet (say 2nd week of June).
Continue treating weekly till about August 1.
Also make sure and go out and shake whatever beetles there are off the trees, shrubs, etc. daily.
You will eliminate 80% + of the beetle infestation.
