Are they birch trees?

Are they birch trees? Yep one is a birch which they absolutely annihilated last summer.

Re: Japanese Beetles Annual Thread
I put down a bunch grub killer in at the end of the summer last season and early may this year - hopefully that works too. We'll see.

Re: Japanese Beetles Annual Thread
I have picked at least 2 doz. off of our roses already. Also, had put a grub treatment on lawn, which is supposed to help. Very difficult trying to protect trees though.

Also, do they attack garden plants? This is our first year and we have tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes growing.

Great, we just got a birch this spring which I love. They always do a number on our tree out front, they are already out there. What is the best spray for trees and shrubs?

To compound matters, my neighbor insists on hanging the beetle traps so she is just luring them to our yards.

I planted some lilac's last year. I've heard the beetles don't like the smell of those and hoping it helps keep some away.
