I am in the process of buying home gym equipment and have a question. I am looking at two different weight lifting sets. There is a $200 difference between the two. After looking at reviews is seems that the cheaper one is has a 35 lbs. 7" long weight lifting bar instead of a standard Olympic size 45 lbs 7' bar. My question is, is if this should be a deal breaker or not? I am not a power lifter, my max bench would be 225 lbs and I don't do squats, cleans, or dead-lifts. I think I can get away with the 35lbs bar but, I seek others options.
Not sure why you even need a bar if you're not doing squats, cleans or deads.
I was never shown how to properly do a clean or dead lift. I know good form is important for those. I don't do squats anymore because of my high school football coach and trying to squat way to much than I should have done.
Looks like I will go with the Olympic size. Thanks guys.
