Any talk of Jester Park, Echo valley, Norwalk, Pella is crazy talk those places are not getting a SPGA tour event.
I think its going to be DM Country Club or nothing.
Also I was listening to Miller & Brinson when they were talking about this around 4 but didn't the Sr. Open in 99' use holes from both courses? They were saying it made sense for members there because only 1 course would be un available. This could come up again where they use both courses for a single event. I could be off on this fact though.
I agree with all of this. Strictly talking golf, Harvester makes most sense. I can't imagine the drive would be something to make or break the tournament. I would assume there is a decent drive to a lot of tournaments based around metro areas. Of course i could be wrong on that too.
Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
Welp, DMGCC Says a swift, thanks but no thanks... I just don't see this tournament staying in Des Moines...
Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
I was just going to bring this thread back up but you beat me to it. There was really no chance for it to be at DMG. I know the membership and the board very well and they are to put it nicely, snobs. (not all, but the majority) I know the guys at The Harvester are trying really hard and I know Echo is trying as well. It's going to be interesting to see where it ends up.
Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
We can all thank the Glen Oaks people if this tournament leaves this area. Pretty decent money maker for the town may be down the tubes.
Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
The Oaks or Homewood in Ames would be awesome!!!!!

Just how many of the 1,400+ families that have memberships at DMG&CC do you really know? I have belonged there for 25+ years and I have not had the same experience because the majority of the members I know are not snobs.
Do you ever even been to DMG&CC?

Perhaps you don't realize if they are snobs if you are also one?
Ultimately, I blame the snobs at Glen Oaks for this great tournament leaving Iowa.

750 GOLFING members. The other membership doesn't matter. It's like any other CC, there are always people who think they are better than others because they are a member at the best club in the city. Like I said, not all are jerks, but there is a large number that are. I know a very large amount of the membership, and if you live in Norman, I bet I know more of the membership than you do. I could also name 95% of the staff that run the place. Don't question me on what I know just because you are butthurt about what I said.
