Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
Looks like this is turning into Des Moines/surrounding suburbians vs. outsiders...

There is plenty of space for parking on the south side, and they will just use shuttles to drop off/pick up people at the gate. They did the same thing in WDM. Wakonda is fenced in 100% so they can control the gate, and they can find places for bleachers on the holes they need them on. They are close to all the downtown hotels for the players and caddies + plenty of restaurants.
As others have said, this event is not leaving DSM. Principal is not going to move it out of the metro where their employees can't volunteer easily, and to somewhere they don't have a presence.

I think the course is a lot tougher than Glen Oaks. I've played both of them twice now this year. Greens at BTR are ridiculous if you are on the wrong level. BTW, I was on in two on #16 last week at BTR from the tips only to have one of five three puts on the day. Impressive sir. Did you clear the creek with your drive?

Agreed. What is the logistics problem with Wakonda? Waterworks Park has plenty of parking. Wakonda's challenge is space on the course for amenities.

Re: Principle Charity Classic leaving Glen Oaks
hummm....crickets so far from those claiming "logistics" problems if held at Wakonda. Also no sources yet provided for the so-called "push" to have this held at BTR.

It appears they are getting closer to naming Wakonda as host.... http://www.desmoinesregister.com/app...=2012308090106 -

It is official: The Principal at Wakonda: Challenges ahead | Des Moines Register Staff Blogs
The article does touch on some of the challenges that still need to be worked out. Who knew the driving range wasn't long enough?
