Noise canceling headphones

I had a 9 hr flight last week, and tried on a pair of those bose headphones. I hate bose, but wow did they make a huge difference. Does anyone know of other headphones that cancel noise on planes/offices as well as bose, but also sound good?

I am going to have to travel a bunch more for work including overseas so I am willing to invest if necessary.

They're not noise-cancelling, but I own a set of iBeats.

They have excellent sound and block out background noise. I was sitting in the seat right next to the engine of a DC-9 (or I believe that since Boeing bought out McDonnel-Douglass they're now calling it a Super 80) and it blocked out just about all of the sound of that engine. Plus you can answer and converse on the phone with them.

One of the best $100 I've ever spent.

I would go with the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B. But Polk, Phiaton, Denon, AKG, Klipsch, and Sennheiser also make noise cancelling headphones.

Poor sound quality would be my guess.

Not trying to flame, some people like their bose products and there's no problem with that. But at similar price points there generally are better sounding alternatives.

Edit: By better sounding really mean more accurate sound reproduction, usually on the high and low end.

I love my Beats Studio headphones. Only thing that is annoying is how badly they bleed sounds. Really depends on personal preference.

Bose cost so much due to marketing. As was said, you can get much better quality/accuracy at the same price point (same goes for Beats). As for headphones, I don't have any noise canceling, but have had a pair of Sennheiser for quite a while and enjoy them.

Do you listen to MP3s? At a certain point, doesn't the quality of sound in MP3s become the limiting factor instead of the headphones?

my brother has a pair of dre beats, and after using them the other week they are the best combination of noise cancelling and sound quality that ive heard. I've owned probably 3 or 4 different headphones throughout college.

The best set of headphones (for the price) are these.

Sennheiser HD203 Closed Back Around Ear Studio Headphones | GuitarCenter

I use these a lot when I'm recording in the studio because although the headphone the studio have on hand are the highest quality, doesn't mean they are the most comfortable. With these you can wear them all day and not be bothered by them.
