Channel 5 OTA?
Hey guys, just a quick question. I should be getting Channel 5 over the air with my antenna correct? I'm getting all my other channels (KCCI, WHO, FOX, KCWI, KDMI), but not WOI.
Maybe I should try a different antenna? I just bought the Mohu Leaf after hearing nothing but rave reviews for it.

I don't get it with an antenna

Re: Channel 5 OTA?
I know I had issues with WOI when the digital switch happened as they moved to VHF, might look to this thread for some recommendations. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...bbit-ears.html (TV Reception with rabbit ears.) I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -
Re: Channel 5 OTA?
That is a wonderful little antenna but it will NOT work for Channel 5. The frequency of Channel 5's signal is too low. What you have there is a high quality indoor UHF antenna that is actually good enough to receive VHF signals down to about Channel 8. Anything lower than that is probably more than you can expect.

Would not be surprised if 5 stayed with an analog transmitter!

Where are you at? Location has something to do with it -
Re: Channel 5 OTA?
I have this UHF/VHF hd antenna new in the box, opened but never used. I'd sell it to you. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o03_s00_i00
(turns out the signal booster I bought did the trick with the current antenna)

I'm fairly close to you, and I get 5 over the air with an old (pre-digital) antennae and my free-because-the-govt-gave-away-coupons converter box. It is still the tricky to get, though. (Reminds me of the old days - turning this way and that, adjusting lengths of ears, snapping at anyone who brushes against anything in the room . . .)

Simple rabbit eats antenna should do it.

I also forgot to mention that I am in an apartment. Third floor. The Leaf Antenna is right next to the window as well.

Re: Channel 5 OTA?
I live hour straight west of Ames and could get WOI ota about 10% of the time. I tried boosters, bought a fancy antenna online, and re coaxed my whole house. Couldn't even get it if I turned antenna straight east on a clear day. I just gave up and when I could justify spending money on directv I did. Now that I can watch 5 whenever I want, I realize there's rarely anything worth watching on it.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not dude?

Re: Channel 5 OTA?
Being in an apartment puts you at a disadvantage unless you have a patio or balcony where you can aim an outdoor antenna towards Allemon where all the towers are located. You might be too far away from Allemon to get consistent reception from Channel 5 with rabbit ears. I can tell you to spread the ears as far apart as possible and extend them as far as they will go for Channel 5. Here in Ames, I stuck a large outdoor antenna in my attic above the garage and aimed it straight south. The reception is outstanding!
