The Amazing Spiderman *** SPOILERS ***
Just got back from seeing this. The fight scenes were pretty good, but I still think I enjoyed the original trilogy more. Doing a reboot so soon seemed weird.
I got a real kick out of the new World Trade Center scene considering they cut the WTC scene from the original after 9/11. I don't know how many other people caught that.

Haven't seen it yet, but this reboot has me thinking that we'll probably see Spiderman in the next Avengers. Anybody else think this, or know the opposite?

All being Marvel I thought maybe they'd tie them together. And if I'm not mistaken, Spiderman was one of the original avengers yes? Even so, rights are rights these days..

Excited to see this this weekend though.
For those that have seen it, would it be bad for me going in and comparing it to the first trilogy? I was a fan of it but know there was a lot they could have improved on

I saw it too and liked it. It seemed more Ultimate Spiderman and that's ok by me.

I think whether or not you want to, you are unintentionally going to compare it to the first Spiderman movie, and Tobey Maguire to Andrew Garfield, the Lizard to the Green Goblin, and so on. I don't think it's a bad thing, just a natural reaction.
I think they are just about even in terms of quality and being enjoyable summer popcorn action movies. Both are well-done; very similar in some ways as you will soon see, but also different in some key areas as well.
The real question is; Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy? Emma Stone doesn't have the nipple-revealing wet t-shirt scene, but damn, she does look fine in the thigh-highs.

Can you really **spoil** a remake?
Probably won't see it, I don't want to encourage Hollywood's lack of creativity.

I thought they did a good job showing Spidey's overwhelming speed and elusiveness which was lacking in the first trilogy. He did seem a little weak compared to the Lizard though.

It's just about impossible to NOT compare against the last trilogy. I thought the casting was very good all around, but had some polarizing moments. Some very, very good scenes and a couple of others where I just shook my head and said "They didn't have a better take than that one?" Garfield does a decent job the angsty nerd aspect of Peter Parker but is far superior at capturing the snarky side of Spiderman than the original trilogy. I did like Stone as Gwen a lot better than Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, but I'm sure there are plenty with the opposite reaction. I think Stone and Garfield displayed good chemistry, which I think helped the story.
I thought the main villain plotline was average and fairly predictable, if well acted. A couple of the CGI moments really pulled me out of the action because of lack of refinement or just something that seemed utterly to defy ANY sense of real physics, even using the Hollywood physics textbook where nearly anything goes.
NERD ALERT: I hated with a passion the fact that they had him make his web slingers as a gadget and wear them like wrist bands. BOOOOO!
Overall, I think it was about as good as Thor overall, but I just couldn't shake the feeling I had seen a lot of this before.
