Boiling corn sucks. I usually keep it in the husk and roast it in the oven, or grill it. Husking it after it's done is kind of a pain but it turns out really good. I'll give the microwave thing a try though.

I just tried this. I think the method is great, and the microwave cooks it fine, but 4 minutes is too much. I think 3 per ear is fine.

So its it 3-minutes per ear? And if you put 3-ears in the Micro, do you set it for 9-mins?

What to do about those pesky little worms? I don't want those little guys blowing up inside my corn.

Tried this tonight. Worked great when cooking just a single ear. I did 3:30. I think 3:00 would've been plenty.

Re: EZ Corn on the Cob

how much does a dozen farm fresh/roadside vendor ears go for nowadays? When I left Iowa, it was $2 a dozen, (and it was a baker's dozen). Now that I've moved back to MN, I've heard that it has gone up to $7 a dozen or something crazy...

Re: EZ Corn on the Cob

I gladly paid $6 for a dozen on Friday night only because a friend tipped me off that this particular vendor had some outstanding sweet corn. The revue was quite accurate.

Wouldn't this work if you boil the corn with the husk on?

I'm going to have to try it. Grilled my last batch though... yum!

Tried it tonight. Worked great. About 3.5 minutes.

Side note, bought mine a Fareway for $4/dozen. Big ears and tasted great.

Tried this tonight and it cooked the corn fine, but they didn't slide out quite that nice. Maybe our ears were too big.

You mean your friend danced and sang about the corn like the monorail guy in the Simpsons?

Sorry I'm not really a grammar nazi, just laugh at things that remind me of the monorail guy.

I think we paid $6 last time.

Here in Cedar Rapids I know I seen a $5 dollar sign at one stand but there was also another 2 stands in a half block radius. Not sure what there prices were.

I trust any instructional video that features background banjo music.
Also, how small is your house if boiling water for 5 minutes heats the joint up?

I grilled some in the husk and cleaned them with this method. Worked great.
