We've used Craigslist for 3-4 years with much success. ..We sell quality home furnishings, or other items for low prices, except for a used car recently, where we got top dollar. For the most part--met some great people

Wtf is up with some of these other people who respond?? (via email):

"Very interested...do you still got the items?"
"When can I come over, I want to buy it"
"Have you sold them yet? I want them"
"I'll buy the xxxxx, and the xxxxx"

---then you play paddy-cake with these idiots, or never hear from them after you respond back to them....trying to plan your day (or worse...weekends) around these people, and their bogus inquiries

Here is my response. GET A ******* LIFE. DO you have better things to do than to jerk around people on Craigslist?

I've given up trying to sell vehicles on CL. When we listed our vehicles this spring we got 100% shammer replies. Wolves who want to pay several thousand under book or tell you that they can pay 75% of the price now and will bring us the rest of the money in a couple months.

Thought we had a serious hit on my husbands truck. THey wanted more pic, okay, can do. More emails back and forth asking decent questions about tires, service records, etc. Finally got the email that he's on an oil rig on in the middle of the ocean and can only pay via internet bank and can I send him my bank account routing info. The truck is a surprise birthday gift for his sister that lives in a crazy town in Iowa that is basically a ghost town.

We've bought some great stuff on CL, but selling on it seems to be a major hassle.

Advertised on Autotrader.com, Cars.com, but Craigslist was by far the best. The first family looked at it-- bought it. without driving it. A unique car which attracted a couple serious buyers. It only takes one buyer, and I didn't get any sham replies.

I've had good luck with craigslist, just have to know how to spot out suspicious or spam emails. Sells vehicles is the worst because they seem to be magnets for scam emails since there is more money involved in the transaction.

I haven't sold anything on CL in years, but I hear that the best way to avoid the scammers is by using a JPG to give your phone number or e-mail address. That way, the scammer bots can't get your contact information as easily.

I've bought and sold several things on CL... freaking love it. But I will never agree for someone to look at it without a full name and number. And cash only! I've walked away from a supposed extra $500 just because it was on a check...
