    Now I'm kinda wishing that I would have grabbed an extension tube and really gotten better pics. I didn't think this bug was all that special, just didn't look familiar.

    I do believe that is correct. Makes sense as it was on an asclepias incarnata which is a member of the milkweed family.

    Lots of good info there, with experts and amateurs ready and willing to ID your beasties for you...

    I thought the plant was something in that family, but wasn't 100% sure because I suck at plant taxonomy. I took a course a few years ago but nothing sunk in.

    I used that site all the time when I took Entomology a few years ago, but had no idea it was actually run by ISU.
