(I love road bikes and will buy one down the road)
Same side traffic, I blow by the skinny and fatty road bikers with my lame hybrid to make them pout...
funnier if they're all assessorized and blinged-up with their roady unitards and gear you are one sad, strange little man.

Oh, and he rigged-up some (terrible) sound system of blaring country music to the apparatus.

funnier if they're all assessorized and blinged-up with their roady unitards and gear Actually, there are quite a few road bikers who don't acknowledge anyone when they ride, so they are ******** to everyone not just those not on road bikes. I probably acknowledge the little old lady or family more than road bikers. Of course I may not fit your stereotype because only 2 of my 4 bikes are road bikes.
Oh, and about getting a road bike: I'm pretty sure you will not be allowed to buy a road bike unless you demonstrate that you will be wearing lycra and that you will put on 30 lbs. Sorry, rules are rules.

As long as they are not doing something unsafe I don't care what type of bike they ride, how fit or fat looking they are or whether they are wearing cool biking apparel or not. Our OP would probably bike past me and think some trash about the old slow guy wearing an ISU jersey that he just passed and that people wearing ISU bike jerseys should be younger and faster. -

Recumbent bikers - now those guys are ridiculous.

Oh, and he rigged-up some (terrible) sound system of blaring country music to the apparatus. Don't go on RAGBRAI then because there are more and more of the coolers converted into stereo systems on trailers. And, yes, they are often playing music thats not on everyone else's play list. We at least converted our cooler into a drink machine with a custom trailer; mixed drinks with the touch of a button.

Re: Road Bikes vs Hybrids
Guess what? They act that way to other road bikers too. I've been on a lot of Midwest trails on all kinds of bikes and there is an element that ride along in their own little world, barely acknowledging anyone or anything. Even riding in groups sometimes they barely allow enough room to pass from either direction. I avoid the High Trestle at busy times for that very reason.
Don't take it personally, Jam, it's not you or your bike. Just take your people-watching lightly and have a good ride.

I ride a Trek road bike no sunglasses and I kind of follow Jambalya on this one. The Lance wanna b's all decked out clip on shoes less than 10% body fat and hiding behind those annoying sunglasses make them appear like drones. I too would rather be personable with the family outings on the trails than the robots going 20mph.
