More news from Happy Valley
Great. More victims of Jerry Sandusky, going back to the 70's and 80's. As the linked article notes, this blows a hole in Sandusky's theory that he's innocent because men don't suddenly become kiddie rapists in their 50's. Three men say they were abused by Jerry Sandusky in the '70s or '80s - NCAA Football - Sporting News
And if this isn't enough of a Mongolian Goat Rodeo already, the Paterno family is hiring experts to prepare a rebuttal to the Freeh report. Wonderful. Now, much like OJ scouring all the golf courses in America looking for "the real killers", the Paterno family is going to devote the next decade or so to finding "the real kiddie rapist enablers". Penn State Nittany Lions -- Paternos to conduct own review of Freeh's data - ESPN
This will not end well for anyone involved.

Re: More news from Happy Valley
You knew that both of these developments had to happen. No way he suddenly started this thing late in life. As an early 1970s birth, it's something to see that Sandusky was doing this as long as I've been alive.
The Paterno family apparently has no ability to comprehend that people will look at a second study funded by a family with someone to defend is going to be viewed as very, very biased. That will go horribly.

I know this is no laughing matter, but should this shock anyone anymore? Behaviors don't just manifest themselves over a few years....

That will go horribly. At this point I think the Paterno family just is doing it as therapy. This way they can look back and say "see, Joe Pa really didn't do anything wrong." It is amazing what family members will cling to so that they can believe their family is perfect.

Not saying that these new reports are lies, but this story has been out for a while and now these people are coming out? Again, they could be telling the truth, but it always seems like these stories come out to only have some people try and take advantage of these situations.
Also, without having to face a situation like this, I am do not understand how hard it is to admit something like this.

His defense in the trial where they said something along the lines of "50 something year old men don't just become pedophiles" was pathetic because anyone with half a brain is screaming "DUH!" There are way more victims out there that came before those poor kids, but for them it was so long ago that most probably won't come forward. Kudos to those who have the courage.

Have you ever been raped when you were young and been so emotionally scared and ashamed that you decided not to do anything? I would be very hesitant to judge these potential victims. The prosecution charged Sandusky in relation to about 20 incidents. They had another 30-40 ready to go in case he got away with the first 20. He has been doing this for as long as he could.

By all accounts, victims going public about rape is almost as difficult as having to live with it. Those victims are opening themselves up to limitless scrutiny (see guy above), and it takes tremendous courage for them to come forth. It doesn't surrpise me at all that they'd elect to wait until the trial was over to do so in order to avoid the media circus it would have made their lives.

I still can't believe the Paterno family. They must still be under the impression that they are royalty; no way anyone other than them is going to buy that their "findings" are going to be more credible than Freeh or the grand jury. The Paternos really need to just shut up if they know what's good for them. Jay especially makes himself look like more of an idiot each passing day.

I agree, did they release the names of the people in the trial though?

Any chance they take down his wife, too?
